The rotary sheet printing machine has a transfer drum for the sheets from one printing cylinder to another. The transfer drum is driven by a gear wheel (4), provided with a device to correct any error in the register of the printed sheet with the second printing cylinder. The correction consists of two conical bushes (6.1,6.2) which fit into conical sleeves (8.1,8.2) in a socket (11) which is fitted in a hole in the gear near the root circle of the gear teeth. The conical bushes can be moved towards or away from each other by a threaded spindle with a right and a left-hand thread. The movement of the bushes reciprocate the gear wheel in the radial direction. ADVANTAGE - Improved precision by backlash reduction.
