摘要 A detector senses the scattered light at the optical component transmitted from a light source. A pulsed operated light source (2) produces a sequence of light pulses (24, 24'), the pulse duration (t) of which is short compared with the transit time of the light through the system. An electronic unit (14) blocks the detector (6) after a time (T5) following the transmission of a light pulse for a specified time interval. The time (T5) is larger than the transit time (T2) of the light pulse from the light source (2) over a further scattering or reflecting object (9) arranged behind the optical component (5) in the beam path to the detector (6) and through a vacuum chamber (1) in which the optical system is arranged. USE/ADVANTAGE - Facilitates measuring of scattered light part of extremely slight scattered light of optical components, their total scattered light part being smaller than 10 to the power of minus 6. Examining surface roughness of optical layers or material homogeneity of optical components, e.g. lenses.
