An indoor sports stadium has a sloping roof which is supported by cantilever beams (6). The lower end (1) of each beam slopes inwards and provides support for benches for the spectators. The upper end (3) of each cantilever may be made telescopic in order to provide a roof which can be opened when required. The underside (2) of the lower ends of the beams can be used for auxiliary buildings such as changing rooms for the competitors.
