Artificial iris diaphragm - made of compatible specified polymer material

An artificial iris diaphragm (1) to be implanted in replacement of an injured or inborn absent iris is made of a material which is compatible with the human eye tissue and has a central opening (2) and an artificial iridectomy at one or several spots. The material can consist of PMMA, silicone rubber, hydrogel with 30-70% water absorptivity or hydroxy ethylmethacrylate. Its pref. max. thickness is 0.35 mm and the dia. can vary from 9 to 13 mm. ADVANTAGE - This is the best possible substitute for a missing iris.
