Caliper rim brake for bicycle - has spring brackets at calliper arm ends with free ends abutting bicycle frame

The bicycle is fitted with a cable operated caliper rim brake. The two arms (5,6) of the calipers are pivoted on a central bolt (4) which is fixed to the bicycle frame. A brake shoe (7,8) is attached to the lower end of each caliper arm. Each brake shoe is pulled away from the wheel rim by a leaf spring (12), which is secured to the caliper arm by a bolt (17) passing through an elongated hole (16) in the spring. The free end (15) of the spring abut the bicycle frame (13,14). ADVANTAGE - Brake shoe symmetrical positions w.r.t. the rim and force transfer to the frame.
