<p>1,201,546. Disazo dyes. SANDOZ Ltd. 13 June, 1968 [27 July, 1967], No. 28188/68. Heading C4P. The invention comprises disazo dyes of formula wherein A is a 1,4-phenylene, -naphthylene or tetrahydronaphthylene radical which may be substituted, X is C 1-6 alkyl, ring B may contain 1 or 2 C 1-6 alkyl groups and ring D may be further substituted. The dyes are prepared by alkylating the corresponding disazo dyes wherein ring B is hydroxy-substituted. The dyes may be used to colour natural and synthetic poly. amide, polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl alcohol fibres, in particular nylon, in orange shades. In examples: (1) the disazo dye 1-aminobenzene- 3 - sulphonic acid # 1 - aminonaphthalene # phenol is prepared and treated with diethyl sulphate and aq. NaOH; (3) as in (1) but the final coupling being with a mixture of phenol and o-cresol. Further disazo dyes of the above formula are specified.</p> |
