Overload clutch with two halves - has saddle-shaped transition section between individual spherical indents, peripherally convex and radially concave

One of two clutch halves (2,3) is spring forced in the direction of the other one. The sepg. plane between the halves contains several balls (14) on a circle, possibly guided by a cage. In engaged state, the balls serve for torque transmission from one to the other clutch half. The balls rest in conical ball indentations (16) in the facing, flat surfaces (18) of the two halves. The transition region (17) between the individual ball indentations are saddle-shaped i.e. convex in peripheral direction and concave in radial direction. Pref. the concave rounding radius of the transition region is slightly greater than that of the balls. ADVANTAGE - No change of adjusted limit moment even after numerous release steps.
