The ink spreading roller (1) of a rotary printing machine is adjusted w.r.t. the forme cylinder (1) by a servomotor which drives two worms (10,21) through freewheels. The worms drive worm wheels (7,20) respectively. Each worm wheel also serves as the cage of an epicyclic drive, with the two epicyclic drives interconnected by a system of gears and levers, enabling the position of the ink spreading roller to be adjusted axially w.r.t. the forme cylinder. ADVANTAGE - Automatic adjustment for each spreading roller.
