The liquid circulation system is installed in a device for shock wave treatment, esp. a lithotriptor. The circuit consists of a shock wave source, a water cushion, a main circulation system for heating the water, a mechanism for filling and emptying the water cushion and a device to regulate the water pressure in the cushion. The liquid circulation system forms a closed circuit and a de-gassing circuit is arranged parallel to this liquid circulation system. The system is provided with a central de-gassing vessel (EB) for heating the liquid. An air separator (LA) mounted on the de-gassing vessel removes the gas bubbles from the de-gassing circuit. Means are provided for the automatic initial filling of liquid circulation system and for keeping it topped up. USE - Breaking up stones in a patient's kidneys.
