PURPOSE: To bind contents of a book in a case by tightening the contents of the book by a U-shaped channel member at the time of operating a handle of a system to move a movable jaw toward a fixed jaw. CONSTITUTION: A handle 105 of a bindery system 100 is disposed at a vertical position. Edges of sheets 28 to be bound are aligned, and placed in a thickness cage 103 having a side face with a taper. A crank 149 is rotated to move a needle until a case size selecting needle 139 coincides with the end of the sheet. A case 20 indicated under the needle 139 is placed in a trestle in contact with an end wall of a case trestle 108 at a back of the case directing a front cover to an operator. The sheets 28 are inserted into the opened case until they are brought into contact with a tightening channel 30. The case is closed, removed from the trestle, a colored back is directed downward, inserted into the system, and released when the case is brought into contact with an elastic bed 122. A gap between a pull-down fixed jaw 110 and a movable haw 115 is narrowed until the ring member 130 of the handle 105 is brought into contact with a stopper 106. The channel is brought into contact with the inserted sheet, and crimped to form a book.
