PURPOSE:To facilitate the working of a communication hole by setting the inlet communication hole of the communication hole for the communication between a plunger chamber and the lower part chamber of a discharge valve on the straight line passing through the inside of an oil feeding hole and drilling the communication hole by using a twist drill inserted into the oil feeding hole. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection pump pressurizes the fuel which is supplied into a plunger chamber 14 through an oil feeding hole 15 in the descent stroke of a plunger 3 and pressurizes the fuel in the plunger chamber 14 in the succeeding ascent stroke of the plunger 3 and discharges said fuel by pushing-opening a discharge valve 5. On the plunger barrel 2, communication holes 28 and 18 for the communication between the plunger chamber 14 and the lower part chamber 22 of the discharge valve are formed, and the inlet communication hole 28 is opened over the oil feeding hole 15. When the inlet communication hole 28 is to be formed, the position of the inlet communication hole 28 opened on the inner surface of the plunger barrel 2 is set on the straight line passing through the inside of the oil feeding hole 15, and a twist drill 30 is inserted through the oil feeding hole 15 and drills the inlet communication hole 28. |
