The essence of the proposed method of producing 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyalkanoic acids is based in the uniflow feed of equimolar amounts of carbon dioxide with sodium hypochlorite into a solution of alkaline salts of 2-methylphenoxyalkanoic acids, thereby producing solutions of salts of 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyalkanoic acids, from which 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyalkanoic acid is derived by mineral acid. The invention can be used in the chemical industry for production of herbicidal agents based on MCPA.
