PURPOSE:To facilitate coupling with a light source for excitation and to enable light amplification by incorporating a light amplifying element in the clad part of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The light amplifying component 10 consists of two optical fibers 11, which each consist of a core part 12, a waveguide clad part 13, and an amplifying clad part 14. Then flanks of the two optical fibers 11 are connected with surface tension at the time of fusion and their center part is reduced in diameter to form a connection part 15 shown by an area L. At the connection part 15, the core part 12 and waveguide clad part 14 become small and the amplifying clad parts 14 of the two optical fibers 11 are united. Each amplifying clad part 14 contains at least one kind of light amplifying element. Thus, exciting light which is incident from C and/or D is absorbed by the light amplifying element in the area L and the amplifying clad part 14 nearby it and propagated light which is incident from A is amplified and projected from B. |
