PURPOSE: To obtain the subject nutritious composition consisting of a salt of a branched chain α-keto acid with a basic L-amino acid, a salt of α-hydroxy-γ- methylthiobutyric acid and an amino acid, having a good taste and an improved thermal stability. CONSTITUTION: This nutritious composition for a renal failure, is a food supplementing agent for renal patients receiving a low protein diet treatment, consisting of 20-25wt.% L-ornithine α-ketoisovalerate, 20-25wt.% L-ornithine α-ketoisocaprate, 20-25wt.% L-lysine α-keto-β-methylvalerate, 5-9wt.% L-histidine α-ketoisocaprate, 1-3wt.% Ca, Na or K salt of α-hydroxy-γ-methylthiobutyric acid, 0.1-1wt.% L-tryptophan, 15-20wt.% L-tyrosine and 3-7wt.% L-threonine. The composition is preferably administered by dissolving or suspending in a fruit juice, and also by dissolving or suspending in water containing an aromatizing agent. |
