The blowhead 23 for a glass bulb blowing ribbon machine comprises a casing 3, secured to chain links 2; a sleeve 5 sliding in the casing 3, the sleeve 5 having a blow shoe 1 at its upper end and cam rollers 9 at its lower end, a blow pipe 8 sliding in the sleeve 5 and having a blow tip 7 at its lower end and cam rollers 10, the cam rollers 9 following a first cam 11 to cause the sleeve 5 to descend so that the blow shoe 1 is positioned below an air tank 16 (31) and the cam rollers 10 then following a cam track 15 to cause the blow pipe 5 to descend so as to insert the blow tip 7 positively into a glass ribbon 18 on an orifice plate 17. Springs 4 and 6 are positioned between the casing 3 and sleeve 5 and sleeve 5 and pipe 8 respectively and an initially flat cam plate 13 prevents downward movement of the tip 7 until after the shoe 1 engages the air tank liner 16 and then co-operates with cam 15, loaded by springs 19, to lower the tip 7. Cam 14 co-operates with rollers 10 to raise the tips after blowing is completed and a further cam 12 co-operates with rollers 9 to reposition the sleeve 5. |
