The solution concerns a construction of a filter element made of fanfold filter paper suitable for filtration of liquid and gas media, mainly in combustion engines. The filter element is characteristic by the fact that its basic clamping and sealing element is formed solely by an inner perforated stiffener with front concentric sealing surface. Finish of the filter element front faces is not formed by any clamping or sealing element, but it only closes the foldings of filter paper. The improved version has the inner perforated stiffener overlapping the level of front faces finish, which can be designed as narrow closing annular space with its possible connection to the inner perforated stiffener by means of a layer of sealing matter or even without this layer. The simplified design of the filter element does not have any closing annular space, but the sides of the folds of the filter paper are close connected and the inner apexes of these foldings have formed a link by a spread of sealing matter towards the inner perforated stiffener.<IMAGE>
