The invention relates to a flame protection, especially intended for fitting in pipe systems to plants for the absorption and catalysation of environmentally harmful hydrocarbons or other easily inflammable and/or explosive gases. The flame protection is constituted by a pack 1, which can be detachably fitted in a pipe cross section of a pipe 6 forming part of the system and which comprises at least one capillary block 2 of the type which is intended to catalyse exhaust gases from motor vehicles, is made from a ceramic material and comprises a large number of ducts 3, running adjacent to and parallel with one another in the direction of the pipe, and a tubular housing 4 which matches the outer contour of the pipe cross section and against which the capillary block is sealed by means of a flame-resistant material 5, which ducts 3 have a dimension which, when flow velocity is normal, lets the particular gas through into the pipe system but which, if the gas in the pipe system self- ignites, retards the resultant flame such that it extinguishes automatically in the ducts. <IMAGE> |
