PURPOSE: To obtain an almost uniform irradiation pattern by arranging a chip assembly into a inside of balloon by connecting the chip assembly into an optical fiber for turning a laser irradiation to outside in a balloon catheter for the plastic surgery of coronary artery. CONSTITUTION: A laser balloon catheter is connected to the end of an elastic tube 10 by reinforcing a central shaft 26 by an intensified spring 28, and an inflatable balloon 30 is fixed around the circumference. In the balloon 30, an optical fiber assembly 24 connected to the optical fiber 32 is helically arranged along the central shaft 26. A crude having a less index of refraction than the core of the chip assembly 24 is laminated around the circumference of the chip assembly 24, and also a jacket for protecting the crude is further laminated, and then a laser beam is externally irradiated from the optical fiber 32. Thus, it can obtain an almost uniformed and cylindrical irradiation pattern. |
