Textile fibres softening treatment - using aq. compsn. contg. polyethylene wax dispersed poly:organo:siloxane(s)] and softener

Composition (I) in the form of an aq. dispersion is claimed and comprises: (1) polyethylene wax, dispersed in the usual way, with a density of at least 0.9 (0.95-1.05) g.cm-3 at 20 deg.C., an acid value of at least 5 (10-60) and a saponification number of at least 10 (15-80); (2) dispersed polyorganosiloxanes with nitrogen contg.-gps. in which 25% on average of the nitrogen is in crude gps. and the rest in the form of primary and secondary amino gps.; (3) opt. a dispersed or dissolved softener. A process (II) for the softening of fibres, esp. textile materials is also claimed, in which the material is treated with (I) dried and opt. heated. ADVANTAGE - (I) and (II) provide stable products which do not discolour and mechanically stable liquors even in the presence of cellulose crosslinks.
