<p>Optical waveguide devices for interconnecting optical fibers and use in integrated optical systems are disclosed. The invention includes a substantially dry method for making the devices and intermediate elements, including an intermediate waiting step to allow diffusion of the chemical components across layer boundaries, thus providing control over the resulting refractive index profiles of the devices.</p> |
