Control unit for discharge lamp(s) - has switches in series connected to DC circuit and diode in parallel in blocking direction

The discharge lamp (L1,L2) in series with at least one choke inductance (LA,LB; LC,LD) is connected to the junction point of the first two switches (S1,S2). The other end of the arrangement of discharge lamps (L1,L2) and the at least one choke inductance is connected to a junction point of two second switches (S3,S4;S5,S6) connected in series between the poles of the DC voltage source. A diode (D3,D4: D5,D6) is connected in parallel in a blocking direction respectively to the second switches (S3,S4; S5,S6). A current measuring place (I mess 1, I mess 2) is arranged in the current circuit of the discharge lamps (L1,L2). The second switches are HF pulsed from the current measurement place so that the current through the respective lamp fluctuates in a narrow band about a desired value (I Nenn). USE/ADVANTAGE - Permits simple construction and simple extension on control of several lamps.
