A machine for removing insulation from an electrical . conductor (10) e.g. screened co-axial cables of varying dimensions and form has two contra-rotating parting heads (100,100') on a slide rail. Each head has an electrically heater wire (not shown) for the fusion parting of the outer sheath at points separated by distance (a). The cable, tensioned between suitable clamps (not shown), is then moved axially to a cutting head (200) which guillotines the cable (10) to length (2) for final removal of outer sheath discards (a,a2). The cycle can be continuously repeated with lengths (a) (a1) (a2) (2) and slitting depth adjustable as required. USE/ADVANTAGE - Is designed for continuous batch preparation of cable ends with air operation of head rotation and spring cushioned parting of sheath. Eliminates problems associated with imperfect parting of woven or mesh formed insulation e.g. PTFE sheaths. Enables non-circular forms to be safely parted without damaging screen. Dimensions of stripped section are accurately held.
