A weapon barrel loading chamber automatic temp. monitoring arrangement (10) contains an infrared thermometer (16) mounted on the outer wall of a cradle tube (18) enclosing the barrel (12) in the region of the loading chamber (14). The cradle tube has a viewing window bore (22) between the infrared thermometer and barrel. The removable thermometer is mounted in the region of the tube enclosing the length of the chamber near the shell. ADVANTAGE - Temp. monitoring arrangement does not undergo barrel's reciprocal motion or require a barrel recess.
