An alternating current generator, which is particularly suitable as a three-phase current generator in the form of a dynamo for mobile units, motor vehicles or the like, has a housing composed of two bearing shields in which a stator bundle is arranged. The central lamella (20) of the stator bundle is constructed from segment-like parts (12) which interlock on their adjacent front surfaces. The connection is effected by locking of the segment parts, which at the same time support and clamp each other, forming a uniform, rigid lamellar ring for the central lamella. The individual lamella segments, which require little material, are stamped from a flat strip of sheet metal.
