<p>A chemical (such as a plant nutrient, a pesticide and/or an algicide) is absorbed into a microporous carrier, and the latter is then incorporated into a base material capable of controlled breakdown, such as a biodegradable or slightly soluble plastics material. In this way, the chemical can be dispersed evenly throughout the base material, such that it is slowly released as the material breaks down.</p> |
