The radial piston pump has a housing in which delivery pistons are displaceable about a shaft. They are supplied with the pressure medium via a suction bore (22) containing a valve member (24) which alters the cross-section of the flow. The closure head (27) of the valve has a first tapered stage (38) with a small taper angle, to which is joined a second tapered stage (39) with a larger angle, followed by a transition zone (40A,40B) to the shaft (29) of the valve. USE/ADVANTAGE - Radial piston pump in which a largely proportional and linear delivery characteristic is achieved during the stroke of the valve.
