PURPOSE:To enable a sufficient visible light to be emitted by eliminating a buffer layer or a conductor for forming a first impurity region at a diamond within the region, by forming a second buffer layer or a conductor on it, and by adding the constituents into the impurity region for forming a second impurities region. CONSTITUTION:A diamond 2 is formed on a substrate 1 which is provided with an insulation surface, first buffer layers 3, 3' are formed on the upper surface, and impurities are added into a diamond 2 within a region where there are no buffer layers 3, 3', and a first impurity region 5 is provided. Then, a second buffer 27 is provided on the impurity region 5 and one part of constituents of the buffer layer 27 is added into the impurity region 5 for forming a second impurity region 26. Then, pulse or DC/AC current are applied between first and second conductors 9 and 29, thus enabling visible light to be generated especially at the first and second impurity regions 5 and 26. |
