The device (1-5) for restricting rows of supermarket trolleys comprises two freely movable contours which extend into the traffic area of a trolley row and are hereby moved by the mobile trolleys in varied positions. The movable contours enter into active connection in one predetermined position so that one of the contours: produces a locking position which is released by the second contour and thus prevents the coupling position which is required to obtain the coin lock. USE/ADVANTAGE - The lengths of the trolley rows in a supermarket are kept to a manageable length which will not impede the surrounding area.
