PURPOSE:To eliminate the feelings of engine braking, by continuing the disengagement of a lock-up clutch even if the temperature of an engine exceeds a predetermined value during a vehicle running in an engaging range, and by engaging the lock-up clutch only when the running mode is shifted from the disengaging range into the engaging range. CONSTITUTION:Even if the temperature Tw of an engine exceeds a predetermined temperature T upon shifting from a disengaging range into an engaging range, a lock-up clutch 21 is held in its disengaged condition as far as a vehicle runs in the engaging range. During the shifting, the lock-up clutch 21 is engaged only when Tw is higher than T. Accordingly, it is possible to eliminate the feelings of engine braking during the vehicle running in a uniform running condition in the engaging range. |
