The optical thermometer of the present invention uses an infrared sensor and is constructed so as not to cause measurement error due to the temperature change at the tip of a casing (temperature measuring portion) at the time of temperature measurement. The first invention fits a heat insulating member to the tip of the optical thermometer to prevent temperature rise at the tip. The second invention shapes the tip of the optical thermometer in a net form, for example, using a metal having high heat conductivity and improves heat radiation at the tip to prevent its temperature rise. The third invention fits a temperature sensor to the tip of the optical thermometer so as to correct an error in temperature measurement due to the temperature change of the tip. These optical thermometers can measure rapidly and easily an accurate body temperature.
