The invention relates to chlorocarbonyl phenyl isocyanates of the general formula where R is an alkyl or alkoxy group having one to four carbon atoms or chlorine, bromine or fluorine atom and n is 0 to 4. Compounds claimed per se are 2-chlorocarbonyl-phenylisocyanate and 2-chlorocarbonyl-4-chlorophenylisocyanate. Compounds may be prepared by reacting a 2-formyl-aminobenzoic acid alkyl ester with chlorine or sulphuryl chloride in thionyl chloride at a temperature of 0� to 50� C. subsequently heating reactants at a temperature of 100� to 200� C. |
