<p>PURPOSE:To have certain receipt by supporting the body of an air bag device for car rotatably round a vertical axis, rotating the body when a slant impact load is applied, and deflecting the air bag spreading direction to the side to which the driver, etc., is swung. CONSTITUTION:Below an air bag unit 5 a steering support member 15 is fixed which stretching in the direction across the car width. Supporting plates 61, 71 are fixed to this member 15, wherein the one 61 is fitted with a retaining tool 62, and a shaft 65 is fixed in the vertical direction. The unit 5 is rotatable round the axis of this shaft 65. A guide groove 72 in the form of an arc of circle with its center lying on the shaft 65 is provided in the other supporting plate 71, and a pin 57 below the unit 5 is guided by this guide groove to allow the unit 5 to rotate round the shaft 65. A wire 3 is fixed to the unit, with the other end fastened to the car body front part, and a tension is generated when a slant impact force backward is applied to the front of the car body to cause turning in the direction the driver, etc., is swung. Accordingly the spreading direction of the air bag is deflected to the side to which the swing is made.</p> |
