COORDINATE INPUT DEVICE WITH DISPLAY FUNCTION

PURPOSE:To perform accurate coordinate input to utmost limit of display area, by providing electrodes causing non-linear magnetic field phase change adjacent to both ends of display electrodes as compensation electrodes for magnetic field phase. CONSTITUTION:A seal section 3 seals discharge gases in air-tightness, and an ineffective display region ND provided for the safety taking adverse effect of the forming material of the seal 3 on characteristics into consideration is the region about 5mm. from the seal to the discharge gas space. The ND is used for the region constituting electrodes xa1-xa3, x'a1-x'a3 and the like to compensate the phase of magnetic field for position detection at an effective display region D. Position changing distortion of position detecting magnetic field of the effective display can be compensated by the electrodes and driving each electrode.
