PURPOSE:To provide a stabler operation and longer life by allotting the vertical blanking interval of a TV signal between line scannings, causing a generating discharge during this time and speeding up the auxiliary discharge of cathode line access pulses. CONSTITUTION:An NTSC signal is 262.5H during the time of one field (1/60 sec), of which about 20H is the vertical blanking interval. In the case of gas discharge TV, the value dividing 1H by the number of gradation bits is utilized at the time of accessing one line. In the case of 8-bit gradation TV, a time margin of 160DELTA is made if the vertical blanking interval in one field is specified to 20H in the line access timeDELTA=1H/8. The time which the line access is not executed in the time DELTA per 1.5 line is provided when this 160DELTA is allotted as to make access to 204 pieces of horizontal lines. The preliminary discharge is generated between 1st and 2nd electrodes 220 and 230 in this time and this preliminary discharge is positioned at the trailing end in the display period of the uppermost bit. The formed charge particles are made to remain in the auxiliary discharge space 260 and the rising of the auxiliary discharge of the cathode access pulse of the bit 0 is speeded up. |
