PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a micro processor in host machines by reading and writing a file under the control of a magnetic disk controller and providing a code conversion control circuit on the magnetic disk controller. CONSTITUTION:The host machines 4a and 4b which have different code systems and mutually convert data through a system bus 5 are provided and the file is set to be read and written under the control of the magnetic disk controller 2 between the host machines 4a and 4b and the magnetic disk. The code conversion control circuit 2n for adjusting the code systems of the host machines 4a and 4b and the code system of the magnetic disk is provided on the magnetic disk controller 2. The code is converted at the time of writing the file in the disk device 3 so as to unify the code systems, and the code is converted in the code system matched with the host machines 4a and 4b at the time of reading. Thus, the need of executing code conversion/inverse code conversion is eliminated on the host machines 4a and 4b when data is exchanged in the different code systems. |
