A process for preparing a stabilized, aqueous enzyme dispersion comprises: 1) precipitating a water-soluble polymer from an aqueous solution in order to form an aqueous dispersion, and 2) before, after or at the same time as (1), bringing the dissolved or dispersed polymer into contact with an aqueous solution or fine-grained aqueous dispersion of enzyme. In this way, it is possible to obtain a substantial improvement in the stability of the enzyme during storage using a surprisingly small quantity of polymer (in relation to the enzyme). Furthermore, the enzyme stabilization can surprisingly be achieved even by bringing precipitated polymer into contact with dissolved enzyme. The stabilizing effect thus does not appear to be due (or at least not primarily to be due) to encapsulation.
