INFRARED RAY ABSORBING SQUALEIRYLIUM DYE FOR DYE DONATING ELEMENT WHICH IS USED FOR LASER INDUCTION DYE HEAT TRANSFER

摘要

PURPOSE: To enhance transfer efficiency by using a support having a dye layer and an infrared absorbing material different from the dye of the dye layer on the surface thereof and allowing the infrared absorbing material comprising squarylium to be present in the dye layer. CONSTITUTION: An infrared absorbing material comprises squarylium and is present in a dye layer of a dye donor element. The dye in the dye donor element is pref. dispersed in a polymeric binder and, as the polymeric binder, for example, cellulose acetate hydrodienephthalate or the like is designated. The dye receiving element used along with the dye donor element comprises a support having an image receiving layer on its surface and the dye receiving layer is set to a concn. of 1-5 g/m<2> to obtain a good result. A dye image is transferred to the dye receiving element by imagewise heating the dye donor element by laser beam to form a dye transfer image.
