<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject sulfonium compound of high purity in a high yield by reacting a p-dialkylsulfoniophenol with a carbonyl halogenide compound in the presence of a specified secondary amine. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl; X<1> is H, halogen or alkyl; Y is halogen anion, perchloric acid residue, alkylsulfuric acid residue, etc.) is reacted with a compound of formula R-CO-X<2> [R is 2-(trimethylsilyl) ethoxy, allyloxy, etc.; X<2> is halogen]. The above mentioned reaction is carried out in the presence of a base such as a secondary amine (e.g. dicyclohexylamine) having a structure composed of two secondary alkyl groups bonded to a nitrogen atom in a solvent such as acetonitrile at -20-30 deg.C, thus obtaining the objective substance of formula II. The resultant compound of formula II is useful as a reagent for introducing an alkoxycarbonyl group, etc., as a protecting group in the field of organo-synthetic chemistry such as peptide synthesis.</p> |
