摘要 PURPOSE: To prepare an iron catalyst for catalytic hydrogenation for nitrile by reducing in a stream of hydrogen at 200-500 deg.C after oxidation of iron or iron alloy in particulate form at 200-800 deg.C in the presence of oxygen until a weight gain of from 5-32% is attained. CONSTITUTION: Partially oxidized iron or an iron alloy is obtained by oxidizing iron or iron alloy in particulate form at 200-800 deg.C in the presence of gaseous oxygen until at least a weight gain of from 5-32% is attained. The iron catalyst for hydrogenation is prepared by reducing this partially oxidized iron or iron alloy in a stream of hydrogen at 200-500 deg.C. A primary amine is produced a nitrile corresponding with a primary amine by catalytic hydrogenation in the presence of this iron catalyst. This nitrile hydrogenation is carried out preferably in the presence of ammonia, in general to prevent from undesirable byproduct formation.
