PURPOSE:To reduce the collapse, haze, etc., of a fine character by dividing one original picture element into 2<n> in a main scanning direction and 2<m> in a sub-scanning direction ((n) and (m) are integers), and deciding the density value of the fractionized picture element of an notified picture element based on respective density values of the notified original picture element and the circumferential picture element. CONSTITUTION:Parallel data for three picture elements in a subscanning direction from line memories 2a-2c are shift-inputted to three-bit shift registers 3a-3c, respectively. The data are taken out in the matrix of 3X3 matrix from the registers 3a-3c and latched by nine latches 4A-4H and 4S. The data matrix of nine picture elements is inputted to a density value deciding circuit 5, and quater-fractionized picture element data S11-S14 of the attention picture element in the center are outputted for the portion of two lines. The data are stored in line memories 6a and 6b once, thereafter, they are selected for one line by a multiplexer 7, and they are outputted really. Consequently, the collapse and haze, etc., of the fine character are not generated, and the rounding of a part desired to remain right-angled can be eliminated. |
