PURPOSE:To form a metallized layer having excellent adhesion, heat resistance, etc. on the surface of an SiC sintered body by coating a specifically composed compsn. consisting of carbide of Co, Ni, etc. and Ti, W, Mo, etc. or the compd. thereof on the surface of the SiC sintered body and heating said body. CONSTITUTION:The metallizing compsn. prepd. by mixing thoroughly powder consisting of 10-90pts.wt. carbide of >=1 kind among Co, Ni, Fe, Al, Pd, Pt and B and 10-90pts.wt. >=1 kind among Ti, W, Mo, Zr, Hf, Ta, Nb, U, Cr and V or the compd. thereof and having preferably about <=0.1mm. grain size and if necessary an org. binder such as butycarbitol acetate or the like is coated on the surface of an SiC sintered body and thereafter the body is heated for at least 1min in a temp. range of 1,200-2,000 deg.C in a non-oxidizing atmosphere to form a metallizing layer which has extremely secure adhesion, is resistant to heat and thermal impact and has the excellent joinability to permit easy and sure brazing on the surface of the SiC sintered body thereby metallizing said surface. |
