New benzo[b][1,8]naphthyridine derivatives of general formula I in which either R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl radical, R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, 3 to 6 C cycloalkyl, alkyloxy or alkylamino radical and R3 is alkyl and R4 and R5, which are different, are hydrogen or alkyl (with the exception of having R3 = R4 = methyl if R1 is hydrogen and R2 methyl), or else R3 is cycloalkyl and R4 and R5 are hydrogen, or R1 is defined as above, R2 is alkyloxy, R3 is hydrogen or alkyl and R4 and R5 are hydrogen, their salts, their preparation and the compositions which contain them. These new products are useful as antimicrobial agents. <IMAGE>
