PURPOSE:To enable an optical fiber to be cut at a right angle to the fiber axis at uniform lustrous faces by notching a wire rod by the actions of an edge cam, a holding cam and a stretch cam interlocking with a drive shaft and by separately moving mechanisms holding one side and the other side of the notch, respectively. CONSTITUTION:By closing microswitch 10 motor 2 is electrified with cells 3 to rotate drive shaft 5. Holding lever 18 holds the tip of wire rod 13 through holding cam 8 interlocking with shaft 5. By the action of edge cam 7 edge lever 15 moves left, and edge 16 is pressed by the spring force of flat spring 16a to notch rod 13. During this time, stretch cam 9 swings swing lever 17 through stretch lever 19 and spring 20 so that lever 17 is parted from holding lever 12, and tension is applied to notched rod 13. When the tension reaches an appropriate value, rod 13 is cut at the notched portion. |
