PURPOSE:To obtain rotary head device which is small in heat generation and load and exerts a small adverse influence up other circuit systems by displacing a magnetic head along a parabolic curve by using an electromagnetic actuator which has a large amplitude at the time of driving. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 2 is arranged on the electromagnetic actuator 75, which fixes the magnetic head 2 at a specific position in recording operation mode and displaces the height position of the magnetic head 2 in the rotating direction of a rotary drum in reproduction mode so as to trace a target track on a magnetic tape. Here, the electromagnetic actuator 75 is driven according to data obtained by multiplying height data of respective variable speed playback modes hy corresponding coefficient data of the variable speed playback modes to place the magnetic head 2 on the parabolic curve and drive it with constant acceleration. Consequently, a load on the circuit is small, the heat generation of the device itself is reduced, and the adverse influence upon other circuits is small. |
