Suspension to be sepd. into solids and liq. filtrate enters (7) the top of a cylindrical housing (1) in which is mounted an axial concentric hollow cylinder (12), rotatable from above the housing. Affixed to the hollow cylinder exterior is a helical fin structure (23) whose upper, and possibly also lower, surfaces are covered with metallic filter fabric or a sintered layer, through which filliate passes into the fin interior and thence towards the outlet (8) at the end of a vertical conduit. Solids accumulating on the filter surface (24) are discharged by slow rotation, or centrifugally expelled by fast rotater, into the gap between rotary structure and the housing well, which near its foot has an outlet (10) for solids. For discharge, suspension supply is stopped and gas-bleed apertures opened. The hollow fin structure may have internal heating coils helping to dry accumulating cake before discharge. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable filtration without need for periodic change of filter fabric.
