The cylinder lock for the door of a motor vehicle can be actuated by rotating the key (1) in either direction. The inner housing (2) is locked to the outer housing (3) by a locking bar which fits in a slot in the inner housing (2) wall and in a groove in the outer housing. When the discs (5) are rotated by the key (1) recesses in the peripheries of the discs are aligned with the slot in the locking bar which is then forced radially inwards and allows the inner housing to rotate relative to the outer housing. The discs (5) are held in their mid position by a torsion spring (6). USE - Locks for motor vehicle doors.
