The hinge for a door or for a casement window consists of a first part (1) which includes the hinge-pin and a second part (2) which has a socket to receive the hinge pin. This second part (2) is rigidly attached to a plate (3) which is fixed to the doorpost or the fixed window frame. - The first part (1) with the hinge pin is attached to the door or to the moving part of the window. The height of the fixing plate (3) is equal to the sum of the heights of the two parts (1) and (2) of the hinge.
