A process is useful for controlling processes for heat treatment of metals in function of the material during inductive heating in a closed control circuit if otherwise, with predetermined and exactly reproducible machine parameters, the processing result is affected by the material properties subject to a random change. This could occur in particular as a result of a random change in the metallurgical transformation behaviour, the electrical or magnetic properties and the like. The variation of the process control parameter(s) (temperature, heat output, and similar quantities) with time is analysed in real time and in relation to the deviation from a predetermined function. The deviating material properties are derived from the result. Any necessary correction of these control parameters is carried out during the current working cycle, so that each random change in the material properties is compensated and its influence on the processing result is limited.
