A door closing mechanism is fitted inside a housing (2) which is fitted in a box (1) which is fitted in a recess in the floor (7). The housing (2) is provided with a cover plate (6) which is mounted at a distance above the level of the surrounding floor depending on the design of the door closing mechanism. To protect the door closing mechanism, a guard plate (5) is fitted over the housing (2) directly underneath the cover plate (6).
