The locking unit is designed for remote operation across the pneumatic system and has a common operating unit(9) independent of the central locking system. The operating unit(9) is arranged in a motor vehicle region which can be locked up, e.g. the glove compartment. The adjusting elements(1,2,3) of the locking unit are connected to the operating unit(9) via pneumatic control lines(7,7a,7b). The operating unit has a piston(12), moved by hand by means of a ram(11), and it is possible to move by hand the respective pistons(4,4a,4b) of the adjusting elements(1,2,3). A choke(14) forms an atmospheric connection for the pneumatic system which however, is so small that a quick pressure build up or redn. is possible by moving the piston of the operating unit. USE/ADVANTAGE - Locking unit working independently of central locking system. Type development which allows rear seat back rest to be locked and released in most confortable manner. Can be operated quickly. Low cost.
